A young scholar specialising in the history of ‘Jadidism’ in Central Asia, the author proposes a double index (by issue and by author) of the weekly journal published in Samarqand between August 1913 and June 1915 by the publicist Mahmud Khwaja Behbudi.  The introduction in English language, based on documents from varied public archive collections in Tashkent, constitutes to date the most complete introduction to one of the most significant publications of the “Muslim” press of Russian Turkistan during the colonial period.  Although one could deplore the choice of the Cyrillic alphabet for the transcription of indexes, the latter will prove extremely useful to the historians of Central Asia in the early twentieth century.
