The article examines several place names in Chinese sources, which may be identified with Armenia, beginning with the Aman country that can be found in the “history of the Later Han” compiled between the third and fifth centuries CE. The author shows that Armenia as such is described in Chinese texts since at least since the Mongol period, the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries offering much more accurate data than the previous periods of time ― the Chinese texts of this era using Arabic or Persian and Mongol knowledge. The author also demonstrates that China had profound knowledge of the geographical situation in Western Asia.
