Taking into account that all countries of Transcaucasia perceive their immediate neighbours as the main threats to their national security, and that external players are perceived as the main providers of the security and the main allies against the neighbours (the USA and the EU for Azerbaijan and Georgia, Russia for Armenia and non-recognised polities), the author of this article proposes an alternative conception of economic, energy, environmental and cultural security and cooperation with increased implication of non-state protagonists.  Unfortunately, very few details are provided as to the implementation of this vision, nor on the concrete means for changing the security strategies at the state level.
