On the still understudied theme of hunting and of hunting vocabulary among the Iranian-speaking populations of the Pamir (a situation that contrasts with the existing bibliography on the hunting practices and vocabulary among the Turkic-speaking peoples of Central Asia), the present paper provides an analysis (epistemological in the case of loanwords) of varied technical terms related to the hunter, to his instruments, to his auxiliary animals, and to the hunted ones, followed by a paragraph on expressions, dictums and beliefs related to hunters and hunting.
