The author surveys the study of Russia’s Armenians in four major disciplines of the human and social sciences: (1) history and ethnography; (2) Soviet ethno-sociology (3) the qualitative method (4) and the ‘systemic’ approach—the combination of which is presented here as both a common feature of present-day ethnic studies, and a result of the studied object’s multifaceted realities.
