Dealing with city planning in Central Asia since the origins (2800 BCE at Altyn-Teppe), this very short notice exposes the developments in pre-modern times, the transformations of the Russian colonial period, and with more detail the change brought about by Soviet modernisation (through the example of Dushanbe).  The last paragraphs evoke the main innovations introduced in the wake of national independences and of privatisation of urban housing and equipment.
