A. A. Madih, of the Yerevan State University, presents a historical and demographic study on the Kurds of the three regions of Iranian Khurasan. The article includes a list of some of the 696 villages and rural centres with compact and mixed Kurdish population. A historical introduction since the early Safavid period is followed by an introduction of the main Kurdish tribes nowadays present in Khurasan, a short evocation of the seasonal migrations of a number of them, the modalities and consequences of the overall sedenterisation process.
